Re-engage
Restore confidence, attendance and a positive relationship with learning.
Mixed non-school alternative provision · ages 5–16
A calm, structured and ambitious learning environment for children and young people who need a more personalised pathway to re-engage, progress and move forward.
About Gateway

The Gateway Learning Centre provides carefully planned education and support for pupils who may be experiencing SEND, social, emotional or mental health needs, anxiety, disrupted education or difficulty engaging in a mainstream environment.
Primary and secondary programmes are planned separately and adapted to age, starting points and individual needs. Every referral is considered individually and accepted only where Gateway can meet the pupil’s needs safely and effectively.
Serving East London
Calm, inclusive learning experiences shaped around each pupil’s needs, strengths and next successful step.

Focused support
Small-group teaching that responds to individual starting points.

A place to move forward
Our purpose
Restore confidence, attendance and a positive relationship with learning.
Build secure academic foundations through ambitious, personalised teaching.
Prepare each pupil for successful reintegration or their next destination.
Our provision
Individual programmes are informed by referral information, prior attainment, identified needs and agreed placement outcomes.
EOTAS support
The Gateway Learning Centre may deliver defined elements of an Education Otherwise Than At School package arranged by a local authority under section 61 of the Children and Families Act 2014.
Gateway does not determine EOTAS status. Involvement is subject to written commissioning, receipt of relevant EHCP information, an individual suitability assessment and clearly agreed provision, hours, outcomes and reviews.
Referral pathway
A school, local authority or authorised professional shares the referral and relevant information.
We consider needs, risks, intended outcomes, staffing and whether Gateway is the right environment.
Partners agree attendance, curriculum, safeguarding responsibilities, reporting and review arrangements.
Progress is reviewed regularly with a clear focus on the pupil’s next successful step.
Placements require an appropriate referral, information sharing, suitability assessment and written commissioning agreement. Parents should speak with their child’s school, SEND caseworker or local authority professional.
Safeguarding
Our arrangements include safer recruitment, appropriate DBS checks, a trained Designated Safeguarding Lead, staff training and clear procedures for reporting and escalating concerns.
Attendance is recorded for every session, with unexplained absence or non-arrival reported promptly under the placement agreement.
Leadership and accountability
Gateway is led by practitioners with substantial responsibility across London schools and a clear commitment to safe, ambitious and personalised education.
